Science & Technology Policy Research and Information Center

The Science & Technology Policy Research and Information Center (STPI), established in 1974, aims to support the government’s technology policy-making and addressing social needs for the coming era of knowledge-economy and globalization

Functioning as the main government think-tank for technology policy and the major platform for incorporating Taiwan’s research communities, STPI has been explicitly focusing on establishing its research competences in national innovation system, technology foresight, and performance evaluation.
In addition, STPI has integrated and provided Taiwan’s research communities with several nation-wide technology-related information services such as the Consortium on Core Electronic Resources in Taiwan (CONCERT), the Nationwide Document Delivery Service (NDDS), as well as the Research All in one (REAL), in improving the efficiency of scientific research.

The future vision of STPI is to continue enhancing the competence in national innovation system research, trend analysis of technology development, as well as promoting the academia-industry-government cooperation, in order to fulfill its missions as the main think-tank for the government’s technology policy-making. Moreover, with sound academic foundation and empirical research capabilities, STPI is advancing toward its major goal as a world-class policy research institution.
